A small Portrait of Janet and John Roslyn

of the famous Renald Kennel

Janet and John Roslyn bought their first Dandie Dinmont in 1962, and have kept, bred and exhibited this breed for over forty years.

They own the "Renald" affix, which is a well-known Dandie Dinmont kennel in the U.K. and abroad. Over the years they have bred ten Champions, Ch. Renald Drum Major was the first of many Renald Dandies who were placed in the Terrier Group.

Another triumph for the Renald kennel was when Ch. Renald Broc became the top stud dog of the 20th century.

Another four of their puppies, owned by European Dandie enthusiasts, became Int. Champions. Also two bitch puppies purchased by them in the 1960'S from Miss Carr Warkworth became Champions.

Miss Carr is now 92 years old, is an honorary member of the D.D.T.C. and still owns Dandies!)

Head study of Ch. Warkworth Wideawake winning in 1980, judge Mrs. V. Sage( Clane)

Dandies are not a popular breed, but when compared with other Terriers, such as Cairns , West Highland Whites or Bull Terriers, they never will be , because numerically they cannot compete. This, however, could be good for the breed, since popularity makes commercial breeding attractive financially but not good genetically for a breed which has always been small in numbers. Unfortunately, during the last decade, numbers have dropped world-wide.
